Version 3 – 2026-09-08
These Software Licence Terms form the agreement between you (the "Licensee") and DigiTune Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("DigiTune", "we", "us"), governing your use of the DigiTune software you have installed (DigiTune GTS or DigiTune Connect) and any associated media, printed materials, and documentation (the "Software").
Acceptance occurs upon purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Software. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the Software.
The two products are licensed differently: DigiTune GTS is paid tuning software licensed per computer, and DigiTune Connect is free software whose purpose is to run the tuning work your tuner sends you. Where a section applies to only one of them, it says so.
The current version of these terms is also published at https://gts.digitune.co.uk/software-licence/.
1. About these terms
These Software Licence Terms govern your use of the Software. By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Software you agree to be bound by them.
2. The licence we grant you
DigiTune grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Software. What that licence covers depends on which product you have installed.
2.1 DigiTune GTS
Your licence to use DigiTune GTS is subject to the limits of your licence tier:
- (a) Trial licence – free evaluation for the stated period (currently 30 days); commercial use is prohibited.
- (b) Personal licence – use on up to 3 personal or immediate-family vehicles / ECUs; non-commercial only.
- (c) Commercial licence – business use for tuning multiple vehicles.
All paid licences are per-device: one activated licence per computer.
Activation and machine binding. Your licence key entitles you to one (1) activation at a time. Reinstalling on the same device does not normally consume an additional activation, but significant hardware changes, operating system reinstallation, or use on a different device may require you to deactivate the previous activation before reactivating. You may request a manual reset of your activation by contacting [email protected]. DigiTune may decline requests where abuse is suspected, and may deactivate or revoke licence keys that are shared, resold, or used in breach of these terms.
2.2 DigiTune Connect
DigiTune Connect is supplied free of charge. It needs no licence key and no activation to install or to run, and there is no trial period, no licence tier and no per-computer limit. You may install it on as many of your own computers as you wish.
What is purchased is not the Software but the tuning work carried out through it:
- (a) Tune licence – entitles one vehicle to be tuned. The key you are issued is locked to the first ECU a job is run against, and a second vehicle requires a tune licence of its own.
- (b) Live tuning session – purchased separately from a tune. It entitles a remote session during which your tuner may read from and write to your ECU while you drive.
A tune licence may carry an expiry date, and may be suspended or revoked where it has been refunded, shared, or used in breach of these terms.
The tuning jobs DigiTune Connect runs are written and issued by your tuner, who may be someone other than DigiTune.
3. What you may not do
You shall not, and shall not permit any third party to:
- (a) copy, distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or resell the Software or your licence key;
- (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
- (c) remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or licence notices;
- (d) use the Software to develop a competing product;
- (e) share a licence key, or a tune licence key, outside the scope of the licence you have purchased;
- (f) circumvent licence validation, activation, or any technical protection measures.
4. Updates
DigiTune GTS updates released during the active period of your licence are included at no additional cost. DigiTune Connect is free, so its updates are not tied to any licence period. Updates to either product are governed by these terms unless accompanied by a separate licence.
5. Right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers have a 14-day cancellation right for digital content. By ticking the consent box at checkout you give express permission for immediate delivery, which waives this cancellation right.
For DigiTune GTS, the free trial allows you to evaluate the Software before purchase without forfeiting any statutory protection. DigiTune Connect is free to install and use, so nothing need be purchased in order to evaluate it.
6. Refunds
Paid licences are non-refundable once issued, except as required by law. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for faulty or misrepresented products are unaffected. Before purchasing DigiTune GTS you are encouraged to evaluate suitability using the free 30-day trial.
7. Term and termination
Time-limited licences end automatically upon expiration. Lifetime licences continue indefinitely subject to these terms.
DigiTune may terminate your licence for material breach of these terms if the breach is not remedied within 14 days of written notice. Upon termination you must cease all use of the Software and delete all copies in your possession.
Sections 3, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.
8. Warranties and disclaimers
The Software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind beyond the statutory protections of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
DigiTune does not warrant that any tune produced using the Software will be safe, legal, or suitable for any particular engine, vehicle, fuel grade, or use.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK – ENGINE AND VEHICLE DAMAGE. Modifying ECU calibration data can cause engine damage, vehicle damage, personal injury, death, or render a vehicle unsafe or unroadworthy. You are solely responsible for:
- (a) verifying all calibration changes before applying them to a vehicle;
- (b) compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including emissions and road-traffic legislation;
- (c) any consequences of using the Software.
The Software is not intended for safety-critical applications.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the above, DigiTune's total aggregate liability under or in connection with these terms shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Software in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. DigiTune shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including without limitation property damage arising from tuning decisions.
10. Data
DigiTune GTS. Licence activation contacts DigiTune's licence server using a machine identifier and your licence key, for verification and per-device limit enforcement. DigiTune does not collect tuning, log, or calibration files from DigiTune GTS.
DigiTune Connect. Activating a tune licence contacts DigiTune's tuning service with your licence key and your ECU's identifier, so that the tune can be issued to your vehicle and the jobs your tuner has sent can be found.
Delivering a remote tune requires files to be sent to that service, from where your tuner collects them. The following may be transmitted: your answers to a job's questions and any notes you write, data logs recorded from your ECU, and your ECU's calibration, both as found and as finished. This happens when you save the result of a completed job, when a live tuning session ends, and when you choose to send a log you have recorded or imported. During a live tuning session, readings from your ECU are streamed to your tuner for the duration of the session, and the session is recorded.
DigiTune Connect also sends DigiTune a failure report when a step of a job fails, so that faults can be diagnosed. A failure report never contains a calibration, a data log, a licence key, or a full file path.
Files sent to the tuning service are used to carry out and support the tuning work you have purchased.
11. Changes to these terms
DigiTune may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your purchase applies to that transaction. Material changes will be flagged on the licence terms page; the current version is always available at https://gts.digitune.co.uk/software-licence/.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms.
